Hi Team,
Recently accidently i deleted Volume from synology nas ( thinking that I am deleting LUN)volume was ext4 with RAID 1. Each hard disk is of 8TB.

This volume was having shared folder which was encrypted. I checked couple of forum which mentioned that if we create volume with same name, we can get data back so i created new volume with same name which turns out to be second mistake. Contacted synology support and they mentioned that creation of volume again made problem worse and cannot recover the data. When i ask if any third party software can recover the data they mentioned probably can try with photorec. Synology will not mention about software vendor name if they dont have confidence in them. So i was wonder with photorec its possible to recover the data? NAS has RAID 1, no data is writen on disk since i accidently deleted the volume. Any change to recover the data in which scenario?
If yes, how i should proceed with protorec meaning any specific steps do i need to follow?

I am in desperate need of recovering the data. Data is about 2.5TB

Looking for the help in desperate need. Thanks in advance.

Thanks

Govi

You can always try PhotoRec to recover data, but it comes at a price. PhotoRec is an armageddon tool, the last line of defense and will not recover folders and typically not recover file names. In case of fragmentation inside the file system the affected files may not be readable. Make sure to select a recovery location that is located outside the affected disk.

Commercial solutions and professional recovery labs exists and may give better results.

I don't know what "protorec" is.

I will give a try on photorec.

Commerial solution:- Can suggest any name? for sure i will try with PhotoRec, if result are not accurate, probably give a try to Commercial solution. If Commercial solution does not work, then go for recovery lab.

sorry, my bad, i made spelling mistake here. I was referring to PhotoRec
