Hi
I just downloaded the win-64 version of testdisk. (Using on win7-64 pro)
I'm trying to recover a 2TB USB NTFS backup drive with lots of large database archives
The drive has not been written to since the deletion.
It seems to be able to see smaller files than about 4GB (indexes etc) but
does not even list the larger files (some around 20GB)
Is there a size limit or is the free version only for files to that size?
The recovery is quite important so any suggestions welcome.
thanks
jack

From which internet address did you do download TestDisk?

Is this a SSD or HDD?

The TestDisk package is free and the source code is open.
Why are you talking about a "free" version when there is only one version?
That is the reason why I asked you about the download site above.

Hi recuperation
The drive is a western digital Elements 2TB USB with single GPT partition in NTFS format
Originally partitioned in Linux (centos 6.9) then formatted with 4k blocks on win7-64 pro - no windows
indexing allowed. I came straight to testdisc as soon as the files were deleted - the machine
was not rebooted from the time of deletion nor tampered with by windows as far as I can tell
(most windows services are dissabled on this machine).
I said free because I thought it was - and since it recovered everything around 4,200,000KB and below
but nothing around 4.300,000KB and above I wondered if there was a deliberate "trial" limit of some sort.
From:

The bigger files are the important ones to me - hence my panic - and care...
thanks
jack

Sorry, I did not raise those questions at the beginning!

What is their file type?
The drive has not been written to since the deletion.
What is "deletion"? What did you delete exactly?
There is still one open question you did not answer.
