I can't find the .eml file extension for recovering emails in PhotoRec.

Yes, it is missing. :(

It is a tricky issue. EML looks to me like a single raw email. EMLX (contained in PhotoRec) is different from EML.

If you don't have any email software installed that is using mbox as a storage format, checking mbox might produce EML files.

It appears to me that the mbox family (unfortunately there are variations) is basically storing a bunch of EML files in one big file. There are different solutions within the family what to do to recognize where one email ends and the following one starts.

Worst case would be that you need to cut the resulting files in parts.
