Hi is there anybody give me a hint.
I think the disk was damaged for energy cut.
I made a new install of windows 10 sh on a laptop , but I committ an error, when windows ask me to install it I choose the option to installing and formating but I did not back up.
I tried to use photorec, it took around 20 hours to recover i saw a message that some parts of the disk has failure, but I just recovered, jpg, mp3, dll, php and .exe files that I do not need, is it possible to recover a file .mq4?
The disk is 1TB .
Thanks in advance

A file type named "mq4" as described in
https://www.reviversoft.com/file-extensions/mq4
is not supported by PhotoRec.
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/File_Fo ... y_PhotoRec
Depending on the type of your disk and your way of installation there might be nothing left over and you might only find stuff contained in your most recent installation.
20 hours recovery time is too slow even for a 2,5'' hardddisk with 5400 rpm.
It appears that you did not recover your files on a another, hopefully empty disk.

well I see this folder Windows.old under the new windows installation ,Then if this file *. mq4 is not supported by photorec, should I use another software like for data recovery like ontrack easyrecovery.
Thanks

You can create a custom signature.
https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk_doc ... ature.html
Test it with a CMR harddisk and a mq4-file that you place and delete for testing purposes.
Flash storage and SMR disks behave similarly and are not recovery-friendly.
I wonder if there is commercial software around that supports mq4 when file carving.
