Hi,
I have a hard drive removed from a dead laptop connected to new laptop via external enclosure and USB cable. The drive only has a recovery partition visible in the file list, the large partition which had data is not visible and that's the one I am hoping to recover.
When I run either PhotoRec or TestDisk, the only device that comes up is the internal drive in the laptop, not the one I want to recover.
Please help!
Thank you,
Ola

Re: PhotoRec not recognizing external drive
Try to connect the disk directly via SATA. Do you heard the disk spinning ? Maybe it's physically damaged.
