Hey guys!
So... this past summer I was on vacation and I took a great video of a thunderstorm. Eventually I decided to delete it for more space on my memory card, but I immediately regretted the decision. I didn't use the space, so I thought it might be recoverable. I succeeded in recovering pictures from the video (using photorec), but not the video itself. It's a Canon camera, and I believe they use MJPEG videos, so it's understandable the the video is corrupted as it is. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to recover the video itself.
I know this isn't an easy problem to solve, so thanks for any help!

Re: Avi video has been converted to a series of JPGES
Do you have the same problem using PhotoRec 6.14-WIP ?
Re: Avi video has been converted to a series of JPGES
I'm having the exact same issue. Is it possible that we both made the same mistake in using the software? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I used version 6.14. Are my videos gone for good or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks

PhotoRec is in any case no mistake. Is it possible that we both made the same mistake in using the software?
It's easily going to read your sectors and copies the results/files to another intact disk partition etc..
In your case I have no idea, did you delete something, did you reformat your card/thumb drive (I've no idea what media do you use?).
So diagnose might be different.
Also, did you use/write to your media after your incident?
That's why it's difficult to judge.

Hi Fiona,
When I said "did we make the same mistake using photorec", I meant that I might not have used it properly. I wasn't sure if I should choose ext2/ext3 or other when running photorec (I used other because it seemed to be the default). I am trying to recover deleted videos from my Canon camera that uses an 8gig Sandisk SDHC card. I used the camera and card many times after deleting the videos I'm trying to recover. The videos only show up as a jpeg and are of very poor quality. Please let me know if I can try anything else. Thanks so much for your help.

Re: Avi video has been converted to a series of JPGES
Hello again,
The videos I want to recover are 5-10min long but I only have 1 jpeg for each. If anyone thinks I could still possibly recover them please let me know what I should do.
Thanks
