Seeing a LONG list of Drives

#1 Post by YashBlade »

OK. I have been struggling with this drive for some time. I think I finally have an idea what is wrong, so the first thing I want to try is to fix the filesystem, etc.

However in the window that lists the drives I see the Seagatw External that I want to work on listed 3 times. I'm not sure which one to pick, or if it even matters. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

My other thought is that there is still data on the Drive that I want. IF I try and repair it using TestDisk, will that mess up the files that might be salvageable?

I've tried to upload a screen capture of what I mean, but that's not really skill that I have, so forgive the lousy quality, please.

Thanks for any and all help.

Would it be possible to use TestDisk 6.14WIP?
You should use Disk /dev/sdb (labeled as Seagate External) for a diagnose.

Analyse displays your current partition structur and important are the results of Quick and Deeper Search.
If partitions are found using Quick or Deeper Search, you can check them and press p to have a try to list your files.
If your partition is still in your partition table (the menu Advanced), you can run Advanced / Boot and either Backup BS or Rebuild BS to have a boot sector diagnose.
You can list your files using the menu List.

Of course, I could use the newer version. However TeskDisk took along time running, to come to this screen that I have. Is there much of a difference between the 2? Also is 6.14 not a beta? I have always tried to use the latest "stable" version s of software, as opposed to Beta types. So if there is not much of a difference.....

And Thank You for your help in regards to which Drive I should be working on.

TestDisk 6.14IP has some bugfixes and improvements.

That's why I recommend it!
To speed up a diagnose, if during Quick or Deeper Search your partition is listed, you can press F (upper case) to jump to the end of that partition.
It saves time.

Wow. Thanks so much. That was actually the issue I was sort of having. I could not navigate around to see if everything was found.
