compress files that have been recoverd
photorec froze so i stopped it and i was wondering if i could compress the files that have been recovered already and then resume recovering files i just don't want it to start over again its a 2tb hard drive so its taking a long time i hope someone can help

Yes, you can compress the recovered files or even delete some of them, it's not a problem.

can i say yes to stopping it and close it to restart my computer then start it again were it left off?

right now its frozen i cant even stop it so can i close it by hitting the x or in taskmanager and start were i left off when i open it again?

Unless you are using latest 6.14-WIP, PhotoRec will resume from the beginning if you can't stop it properly.
With recent 6.14-WIP, PhotoRec saves its current progress every 5 minutes.
