Hi All,

When i plug in the non working external USB HDD my PC just hangs as if its trying to load something then until i unplug the drive everything starts to work again. This means i cannot start the utility in order to try and retrieve files and folders. Is there a specific way to get onto the HDD? Please help very important files need to be retrieved.

OK - UPDATE. I have managed to start the scans in test disk however it can not find any partitions either with in the normal scan or the deep scan. Please can someone kindly advise here?

What partition type did you choose in the first screen ([None],...) ?

I have the same problem, it doesn't find any partitions but still it does start scanning, with no results though...

I chose Intel and then i chose EFI GPT which i just cancelled there is no option for none. Any advise appreciated.
