newbie, needs help.
I can't access my seagate external drive, it shows up & everything but it says that it needs t be reformatted. I keep all my pictures & music on this drive & I don't want to lose anything. I'm not really sure what I'm doing :p any assistance would be fantastic.

Can you try testdisk ? Go in the Advanced menu, select the partition, Boot, RebuildBS, List.
If you can see your files, choose Write, confirm, Quit
If you have problems, post the testdisk.log file content.
