I have a 1.5 terabyte drive that has issues.

I'm running TestDisk, and it can't seem to decide what file system I have. What is going on here?

It was formatted NTFS and added to my system with no extra partitioning.

My virus scanner crashes when it gets too deep into the drive.
Scandisk locks my system up when it gets deep into the drive.

This program seems to be seeing Fat12 (What the heck is fat12?), Fat16, VMFS, SysV4, WBFS???

Only thing it should see is NTFS.

Any suggestions?

In your screenshot, you are looking for partitions inside a partition. It's meaningless.
What is the problem ?

I guess I'm just surprised to see all this show up at all. If it's meaningless, then I'll ignore it and keep poking around.

By example, if you have the format executable on this drive, TestDisk will find FAT12 boot sector stored in the binary itself.
If your disk contains bad sector, scandisk or any other disk utility may freeze/run very slowly when reading those sectors.
Use a SMART disk monitoring utility to check the disk status and/or run a surface check with scandisk / chkdsk.
