Help!! Slow deeper search. files not copying out ($mft error

I've been trying to get a hang of the testdisk utility for about 10Hrs now, but seems i'm just messing it up, i'm extremely drained,s o my typing might be crap.

First, the wiki didn't help out, cause it wasn't the same result i was getting:
It didn't give the no partition is bootable error at first, i didn't know where to go from there, so i just hit enter and it took a while to load, infact, with every new menu it takes a while, i presume that is because the hard disk is bad.

And oh, the HDD, a WD blue is for my laptop, win 8.1, 2 partitions, one extended, a bad Sata/IDE-Usb connector caused it to change format. before that, i was having blue screens at all the startup options.

Back to TEstDisk..........

So, the first time i tried copying files, from the non-boot partition, it was working, then it all suddenly stopped; copying just the directories for the folder, but not the files contained.

so, i tried again, but it just kept progressing, 0 copied, 899.. failed.

and the i tried starting the utility again, but when it gets to displaying the partition table from quick search and i hit enter, it says, no partition found...... or some error of sort, then i hit enter for deeper scan, then i've been on that for about 2hrs now; progress= 2817/121600: 02%.


Quick response much appreciated. i'd have to leave the office soon, dunno if i have to leave the desktop on

a bad Sata/IDE-Usb connector caused it to change format.
A faulty file system and bad sectors can cause that testdisk hang during a scan and copying files.
Did you get read errors too?

Can you check your disk using crystaldiskinfo?
http://crystalmark.info/software/Crysta ... dex-e.html
The portable version is recommended because the windows installer (exe) contains adware open candy.

Did you use your WD blue used as an internal disk?
Can you repeat your Diagnose and open your testdisk.log and copy and paste the content into your next post?
If testdisk hangs, you can stop your diagnose and copy and paste the content of your testdisk.log as far as it's available too.

If testdisk hangs, you can stop your diagnose and copy and paste the content of your testdisk.log as far as it's available too.

This time, it didn't hang, now it returns the error, this partition is not recoverable and shows the boot partition in green, but in windows explorer, its still not opening.
