Have you been able to list your files?
Did you run Deeper Search also?
Deeper Search looks for partitions using the backup of the boot sector too.
Your disk is an Intel-MBR disk supporting disk size up to 2.2 TB but should be GPT.
On your context menu, you can watch it with convert to GPT.
Scanning a GPT-disk takes some time because it scans each sector.
Have you had a GPT disk before?

Fiona
Would this be the next course of action? I've already ran the Quick and Deep search but didn't turn up anything. Fiona mentions to convert it to GPT. Is this the correct screen and if so, is it the option labeled ee EFI GPT that I should be selecting?

Krypt, I presume you are waiting for Fiona or Chris's response, but in the meantime, just perhaps we can help each other out? I ask because I am interested in knowing what OS you are running. Whatever it is, I feel it is much higher than mine, but know mine - XP Home - can not do GPT. For that reason, I must use Acronis.

Maybe it's because I don't understand how to do it and it didn't take or it took, but I tried 07 which had Acronis in the line and it did not work for me at all. I couldn't even access the files I could earlier. Again, I either did it wrong, or didn't do it at all, but I think that is my version of your question I might need to ask.

I tell you one thing: I wish this were like a video game where you could save the spot you're at right before you make a choice because boy...with a 3 GB drive, you make the wrong choice, it seems it can take my machine at least close to six hours to get back to where I was. And does that ever eat into ones day...

I'm running Testdisk on a WIndows 8 laptop with the affected drive hooked up via USB cable in an enclosure.

I know you are trying to get your issue resolved as am I, but you should probably start a dedicated thread on it. I've been trying to seek help with my drive, but if others see your post and start discussing that, it takes away the focus on what this thread was originally created for, leaving me still with an issue.

I was hoping to have mine figured out by this time, but understand where you are coming from. Unless Fiona posts to me here or PM, I will start my own and not post in this again. Good luck.

Anyone else have any ideas as to where I should go from here?

Disk over 2 TB can used as
- a disk of 2 TB with an Intel/PC partition table when the sector size is 512-byte
- its full capacity with an Intel/PC partition table when the sector size is 4096-byte
- its full capacity with an EFI GPT partition table.

As your disk may have used an EFI GPT partition table, run TestDisk, select your disk, instead of PC Intel, choose EFI GPT, Analyse, Quick Search and if your partition isn't listed, try Deeper Search.
Your data wasn't stored on a FAT partition but probably on an NTFS or exFAT filesystem. So you can ignore the FAT found by TestDisk.

cgreiner,

I haven't had much time to work on this but finally got around to it this past week. When starting up TestDisk, it does recognize it as EFI/GPT. I did both a Quick Search and it didn't find anything. I also ran the Deeper Search with the same result. It came back saying it couldn't find any partition and the only option I could do at that time was select Quit, which took me back to the Main Menu again.

What should I do from here?

Is there any GUI tool available? Not very comfortable with command line. Just found a nice tool to recover lost files on external Android SD card. Here is a step by step guide on how to recover lost files on Android, which helps you restore all deletd files within an hour.
