I have a 1TB drive that was accidentally reformatted.
At first PhotoRec was going reasonably fast (had a 19 hour estimated time)
So far I've recovered about 50,000 files, but in the last 24 hours the program has slowed right down. I've gone through about 25% of the drive at this point, and the software is only recovering a few files every hour. The session I'm running right now has done ~150 files in 7 hours.
Is there a reason it's going this slow? Is there a way for me to tell the program to jump ahead?

Re: PhotoRec Experiences long delays between Reading sectors
Do you see read error messages ?
Re: PhotoRec Experiences long delays between Reading sectors
Where should I see that? The promt doesn't have any error messages I can see.
Also: I noticed the hard drive stops spinning. (It's currently not spinning)
I have it mounted in a desktop port so it's fairly obvious when the disk stops spinning.

Re: PhotoRec Experiences long delays between Reading sectors
Hi, I'm still hoping to get a response on this matter.
PhotoRec has been running solid the last few days and has gone through very few sectors.
The timer continues to go up.

Re: PhotoRec Experiences long delays between Reading sectors
This has been running for the last 4 days.
PhotoRec scanned to around second 534,000,000/1,925,931,008 in about 6 hours then slowed down to only a few sectors every hour. If I didn't know any better the program looks frozen, other than the fact that the counter updates every hour or so.
What should i do?

Still waiting on some advice. The recovery is still going. In the last 12 hours it processed about 1000 sectors.
