I'm doing an unlocatted data recovery, suddenly photorec got stuck in a sector, also the timer has stopped.
What should I do to resume?

Can you check the CPU usage of PhotoRec ? (Near 0, near 100% ?)
Can you try with PhotoRec 7.0 (not the older 7.0-WIP) ?

I have restarted and resumed a couple of times and it does hang at the same sector each time.

Strange, my first post was disapproved and the follow up was posted. I am running 7.0 on Windows and hitting the same sector each time. I too must be editing the .ses file in the wrong manner as I can't seem to skip over the problem spot.

You have to remove the range you want to avoid and modify the current sector number.

I'm having this same problem. How do I remove the range to avoid and modify the current sector number? Thanks!

Backup the photorec.ses file first.
Using a text editor like wordpad or notepad++, edit the photorec.ses file:
- modify the sector number at the end of the second line,
- in the following lines, remove or modify the sector range you want to avoid
Restart PhotoRec and confirm that you want to resume the recovery.

Thanks! I did not need to try this, because by the time I got back to the computer a couple of days later, the scan had resumed and completed.
