Recover new Visio files

#1 Post by repairman »

I manages to copy a single NTFS partition with ddrescue.

testdisk cannot find the partition or see any files.

With Photorec I can recover some doc and docx files wihtout filenames.

However I want to recover dsvx files - the new visio files. I assume that they are based on zip files like the docx files.

Looking at the raw image i can see the text of many such vsdx filenames.

What do I do now? Do i need a custom signature?

Thanks

I have uploaded a new 7.1-WIP version. Can you try it ?
With older versions, .vsdx were recovered as .zip.

I tried the new version.

I selected just the file type of zip for recovery.

It seemed to get stuck in an endless loop and tried to recovery a single large file.

My rescued partition image is 270GB

I aborted the recovery when it has produced a single vsdx file of 30GB

I assume this is a bug?

Do not disable other file type unless you are ready to deal with over large files
