Recovery Time Duration

Started trying to recover some video files from a thumb drive last night. Seemed to be going very slow and estimated time was something like 160 hours. Is this normal?
PhotoRec 7.1-WIP is faster than previous versions.
But unless the thumb drive is connected via USB 1, I don't see how it can be so slow.
