Order of partition analysis important?

#1 Post by fnordproducINC » 25 Oct 2017, 13:02

Hey,
Could have tried it in English from the beginning, so it's the same problem as described in .de section (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7404);

I have spoken to my dad, he said he recalls it as a 400gb disk.

TestDisk finds 3 partitions, with one being ridiculously high.
.dev/sda 500gb | 464gb;
.dev/sdb 250gb | 232gb;
.dev/sdc 1353gb | 1260gb;

I had two partitions of about the same size, so I now wonder if the order of analysis makes a difference, as I'd like to start with the 2nd one. Guess the facts that no manufacturer is listed and the message clearly states that the correct sizes have to be available or else check HD Jumper Setting / bios / driver are bad signs, aren't they?!

I previously used this usb linked external storage on a friend's device for smartphone data backup, and securely ejected the drive. The next time of connecting it to my system, it successfully installed drivers, but no access, drive letter. Windows wants to initialize, which I obviously not allowed it to do, because I was well aware of what it means: data loss.

Any advice? THANKS!

You are listing 3 disks, not 3 partitions. If you use, you should see the disk manufacturer name and disk model if you use TestDisk 7.1-WIP.
Can you copy/paste the testdisk.log file (using 7.1-WIP version) ?

My smartphone suddenly has an internal storage error, thus I was cut off the internet... I will add the logfiles when I am home again. I didn't dare doing anything up to now, lol.. Thanks for helping!
