When to give up on a 300+ hours remaining scan?

I have a 9tb raid 5 that had its directory damaged. I've been able to get it to the state where I can copy off a fair amount, though with some file corruption. Tormented by directories of photos that have vanished so I started a photorec session.

I'm on Pass 3 now and it estimates it will take another 300+ hours! Wondering if I should give up? I need to move the set up and power down the disks. Can it resume when I get to my new location? On each subsequent pass is it finding new data, or does it have diminishing results?

Its now up to 668 hours remaining.

Is there any way I can relocate my computer and hard drives to a new location and resume the scan where I paused it?

Its on pass 6 now. 1200 hours to go. Recoveries have slowed down considerably. Should I abort?

Yes, you should abort. You are probably using an old version of PhotoRec. It's better and faster to use latest 7.1-WIP version.

Pass 8, 1,328 hours to go. Does the scan ever end?
