Hi everyone,

Yesteday (jan 2019) my laptop wouln't boot after Windows 10 blue screen.
Afterwards, I ran TestDisk 7.0 from a Ubuntu copied on a USB flash drive.
After selecting "Analize" I got this:

However, after selecting "Quick Seach" it found nothing (it said: "No partition found or selected for recovery"). It then showed the option "Deeper Seach" but nothing in found either.

Note: the quick search and deeper search took a few minutes each (comparable duration). The hard drive is a solid state drive.

Before even using TestDisk I ran the Windows 10 troubleshoot disk and I executed the following commands without any luck:

bootrec /ScanOs
bootrec /RebuildBcd

Note 2: gParted identifies the drive, and it says it is "unallocated".

Could someone help me out with this? I don't want to format and re-install.

Does PhotoRec recover some valid data (Recovered files will have generic filenames) or only random files ?

Hi there,

I have just run PhotoRec and it only recovered 5 files from the whole hard drive (random exe files and a couple of XML files). I chose the "no partition (whole disk)" option to run PhotoRec.

By the way, the laptop BIOS has a hard drive test utility (Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 machine). I ran the test and it return PASS to all tests.
