I used PhotoRec and found many files I cannot otherwise access via Windows Explorer.

Does specifying all of the file types slows down the PhotoRec process?

If it does not, is it possible to organize the resulting list by file extension?

I tried using TestDisk>Analyze and ran into this problem

The program is currently analyzing cylinder-by-cylinder, a slow process.

I should have noted that this is not a Boot Disk. It is a simple Data Storage Disk.

Problems began when I updated a Windows 10 Professional installation and forgot to disconnect the Data Disk. The update process created a new folder and downloaded a large file to it:

F:\Windows10Upgrade\17134.112.180619-1212.rs4_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTCONSUMER_RET_x64FRE_en-us.esd

After the upgrade, if I tried to save a file to the Data Disk. In both Windows 7 and Windows 10 the attempt caused the computer to 'lock up.' Once I ran ChkDsk on it that problem went away along with ~2 years of data files.

I guess the increase in computing time for analysis purposes is negligible.
If selecting more files types leads to more files recovered then PhotoRec needs more time for writing them.

Not within Photorec as far as I know but you can do that with "Windows Explorer".
