How to resolve this?

#1 Postby Durango » 13 Jul 2012, 09:54

Hi

First sorry my bad English :)
I'have problem with my one hard disk partition. It damaged when I was trying to recovery data from another disk with TestDisk. So I selected this damaged partition for TestDisk recovered files by mistake and now this partition is broken. I stopped file recovery about 20 seconds after I noticed that recovery saving target is wrong disk.

Testdisk show this information when I try use it to recovery damaged partition. Damaged partition is 7.

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sda - 320 GB / 298 GiB - CHS 38913 255 63
Current partition structure:
Partition                  Start        End    Size in sectors

 1 E extended LBA             1   0 62 38912 254 63  625121219
No partition is bootable
 5 L Linux                    1   1  1  1283 254 63   20611332

Bad relative sector.
   X extended              1284   0  1  1669 254 63    6201090
 6 L Linux Swap            1284   1  1  1669 254 63    6201027
   X extended              1670   0  1 38912 254 63  598308795
No ext2, JFS, Reiser, cramfs or XFS marker
 7 L Linux                 1670   1  1 38912 254 63  598308732
 7 L Linux                 1670   1  1 38912 254 63  598308732

*=Primary bootable  P=Primary  L=Logical  E=Extended  D=Deleted
>[Quick Search]  [ Backup ]
                            Try to locate partition

After Quick Search test disk list this:

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sda - 320 GB / 298 GiB - CHS 38913 255 63
Partition               Start        End    Size in sectors
>L Linux                    1   1  1  1283 254 63   20611332
 L Linux Swap            1284   1  1  1669 254 63    6201027

Structure: Ok.  Use Up/Down Arrow keys to select partition.
Use Left/Right Arrow keys to CHANGE partition characteristics:
*=Primary bootable  P=Primary  L=Logical  E=Extended  D=Deleted
Keys A: add partition, L: load backup, T: change type, P: list files,
     Enter: to continue
EXT3 Large file Sparse superblock Recover, 10553 MB / 10064 MiB

Testdisk can't work with partition coz filesystem is unknown. So what I have to do to save my data on disk partition? Is the easiest way try to change filesystem back to ext3 and how to do it with out losing data on partition? When ext3 filesystem is back testdisk maybe work and files are possible to recover.
I tested Photorec but it split up lot of my mp3 files. Also it lose filesystem structure and filenames.
