Re: Please help recover Mac OS Extended partition

Hi. Sorry, I didn't write clearly what I wanted to ask.
I have this result if I perform a search using Intel as partition map:

Screen Shot 2019-12-28 at 5.29.54 PM.png (36.13 KiB) Viewed 955 times
And I have this result if I perform a search using EFI (status quo):

Screen Shot 2019-12-28 at 5.40.07 PM.png (32.48 KiB) Viewed 955 times
Since they have different ends/sizes, do you think I could try writing the Intel results to see if I can get the Mac partition mounted? Or would this change be potentialy destructive?

I also get this message before trying the search using Intel partition map:
Screen Shot 2019-12-28 at 5.28.47 PM.png
Screen Shot 2019-12-28 at 5.28.47 PM.png (45.81 KiB) Viewed 955 times
Again, is this something I could try or is it dangerous?

Thank you for your help so far and happy new year!

As the partitions don't overlap and even have space for the required partition map sector in between I don't see a risk.
Write down the differing end sector number nevertheless.
The intel style partition map does not look like the usual tables with cylinder, head and sector information. I assume there is no intel style partition map until now.

The standard answer to your question is rather: Duplicate the drive!

You could try to partition another drive with a maximum capacity of 2TB to see what kind of map your computer is writing assuming that you did the partitioning of your drive yourself sometimes in the past.

Happy new year to you as well!
