Hello,

I am trying to recover a directory which resides in a linux lvm where data were lost due to volume shrink. This process is going on and on for about 5 days without any estimation of ending or percentage completed.
How long will this process go on for almost 600gb lvm directory? Is it ok to stop the process to check the files that are recovered (in a separate disk attached to vm) to be sure important files are being recovered, not garbage.
Any time estimation or sharing experience with this type of situation will be of great help to us.

Does it still recover valid files ?

This we don't know either. We didn't know how many files there were before disaster occurred. We contemplated canceling the operation and checking whether those ok marked 1022297 files are valid or not, but if they are not we'll have to restart the 5days worth of recovery operation again.
This is running from systemrescuecd inside a vmware vsphere vm console session. So we can't open more console session and check that recovery location for file validation. If there are no other way to verify we can cancel the operation and check files and try it again or other methods. I'm just being sure that is the last option.
