Hi,
I would appreciate any help I can get. My computer Gateway NV53a suddenly froze last week. Now when I try to boot I just get a black screen. I connected the hard drive to another computer and tried to use testdisk to try to figure out the problem. I don't have much idea what I'm doing. I took some screenshots and maybe someone could give me some advice.
Thanks, D.

The partition table looks OK. Use chkdsk as described in
https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf to check and repair the filesystems.

Thanks for the help. I can't use chkdsk because my working computer is Linux not Windows. The computer that crashed was using Windows 10. I tried ntfsfix but it didn't help.. the same thing happens: power comes on, fan comes on, but nothing else. I don't think there is anything else I can do to fix it. BTW here are the two other screenshots I was trying to post:

Try to boot Windows in Safe mode.
If it doesn't work, boot from a Microsoft Windows DVD (not from a manufacturer restore DVD) and use it to run chkdsk and if necessary, choose "repair installation".

Thank you. The blank DVD I have is 4.7 GB so I will try to make a USB to boot from instead. I'm not very hopeful though since I can't even get to the BIOS. Today I turned on the computer after removing the hard drive and the exact same thing happened (basically nothing).
