If you use a live linux usb or CD, any other storage medium will work, external HDD etc, your just trying to recover your files, and then reformat the 8tb. IF you already have all your files on the old HDD, then just reformat at that point. If your booting from this 8tb, then apparently (im no ...

Thanks so much for the info. At least i know for sure and wont waste hours upon hours trying to fix it with other tools. One time i thought my internal disk was fried and it was just a bad superblock, i ended up using an older superblock ...

Im curious to know if your able to get your RAW disk fixed. The same thing happened to my 1 terabyte, and 'deep scan' was not able to fix it. I dont have another drive larger to i cant reformat at the moment.
Now if you have data you need to get off, and space, at least for the important stuff ...

Hey i got the same exact problem. Partition reading RAW in windows, cant CHKDSK it, when i do the testdisk steps, it says it cant recover the partition, and actually shows a partition of a completely different file format (mines fat32, its showing an HFS filesystem).

Yea i was gonna mention it in my next post that chkdsk in windows fails to run on this drive (have done it before with other drives). Windows doesnt recognize any partition at all. Under 'properties' in windows it shows '0mb out of 0mb' used, and it keeps asking me to format. I try to do chkdsk in ...
