use testdisk to find the partitions and recover them.

Your going to need to spend 60 seconds reading the manual

I understand that there should be a log file in the testdisk folder. Is it possible that this is not created even when you select create new log file?
is there a command that i can enter before lauching to create a log file?

# testdisk log ddmmyytestdisk.log

Successfulyl rebuilt partition with testdisk. It was an ext2 partition

Using Photorec to copy the files to my Mac's internal hard drive for recovery.

Est Time to completion is over 60000 hours.
