Here's something strange. Follow what /dev/mdstat says
on --assemble (-A) attempts of /dev/md127.
at8-g200@sysresccd % mdadm -S /dev/md127
mdadm: stopped /dev/md127
at8-g200@sysresccd % mdadm -D /dev/md127
mdadm: cannot open /dev/md127: No such file or directory
