I am trying (or was) an ext WD 'My Passport' that was reporting CRC errors.
Does not show up in Disk Management - does or did show a 'disk number' but could not activate.
Used Diskpart to clean it but again, aside from 'disk number', could not get a partition on it ...

I have a CRC error on a WD 500GB (older) MyPassport.
I've not been able to access it with DiskPart... and ChkDsk is hard without a 'drive' letter or mount point. Windows 7 sees it as inactive, DiskPart says it "is" active.
TestDisk sees it but NO partitions. Won't write TestDisk MBR...

Yeah, STOPPING the program is proving (for me) onerous. CTRL C is not working... I believe it using all previous keystrokes so when I hit "enter" over quit, well it applies 'enter' to further commands as they come up... no matter, I sure wish QUIT or STOP really worked.
