It also only offers common file extensions
For your specific files (file extensions) you can add "own extension" to photorec before recovery
(see instructions on wiki)
or you need another recovery program, which use MFT | FAT table for recovery data.

However, saving that drive resulted in pointing to r:/ where the testdisc.exe and .txt where located

As i understand you dislake what photorec from hiren's cd recovered files to ramdrive disk?
For recovery to another disk you need after first start of photorec copy directory ...

i see no errorsget see any error message ?
I launched photorec_win and testdisk_win (ver 7.1 WIP)from command prompt
and them doesnt show anything - after 1.5 seconds them bring me command line back
may be anything changed around cygwin after ver 6.14-WIP?
But QT - GUI version works very well.

I tried commandline options to start qphotorec_win.exe
For swich paranoid to paranoid_bf and i see in photorec.ses what program does not use that option.
Also if i close program - on next start it will not use photorec.ses for recovery

winXP, photorec_win.exe does not start (ver.7)
i use "mini windows XP" from Hiren's boot CD
Photorec_win.exe (ver 6.14) in it works very well
But, photorec_win.exe which i downloaded doesnt start(launch) - i see black window for 1,5 second only.
q photorec_win.exe (ver 7.0) works for me but it have not so much options as photorec without GUI.
