I changed the size. Here is a picture.

Edit: I did the recovery a second time. It seems when one highlights the direction MacintoshHD/Volumes/Ohne_Titel (last one being my external) and the hits enter, the files get written into the directory MacintoshHD ...

Choosing right sector/block size (HFS+)
In my first try I used 0 for sectors/block size and also allowed bruteforce. Pass1 and pass2 ran complete and bruteforce was looping. I read that bruteforce is only for small flash memory, so I canceled.
I recovered more than the next time when I let Photorec choose the sector/block size and didn't ...

volume selection is not enough, have to select a folder?
Hello,
when I select my external drive under Mac OS X in /Volumes/external_drive it seems it is not enough to do so, because when I just highlight that entry and then click ok or search/recover the files get written into /Volumes on the local disk (not the external disc!!!) and not into /Volumes ...

Re: Bug note: Photorec formed a striped volume out of two HDDs
I'd like to attach a screenshot of the Finder after setting it to show everything.
What you see should not be the case, when one selects Volume "OhneTitel" as destination where the recovered files should go.
internal drive holds: all folders recup_dir.1 to 14 and a portion of the recup_dir.15 ...

Bug note: Photorec formed a striped volume out of two HDDs
It ignored my selection to use the external drive as destination and formed one Volume out of the free space on my external (data storage HDD) and my internal (system HDD).
Result:
100GB invisible files eating up the free space on my internal system drive.
DaisyDisk shows, that the lost space on ...

Bug note: step-by-step-guide not up to date (Mac)
7.0 has changed the order of the steps and some of teh options vs 6.13
The step-by-step guide - as much as I value someone doing this in their free time - on cgsecurity is outdated, they have changed the procedure in ver. 7.0 (guide shows 6.13). If someone wants to try it, they can just walk ...

Re: HELP! OS disc is full allthough no data added!
Update:
DaisyDisk (app) shows me, that there is 90GB of space used, that is not visible in Finder. The 90GB files are named recup_dir.1 till 14. So Photorec must have started to recover to my internal drive and then went on with recup_dir.15 to 71 on my external drive, allthough I had selected the ...

Re: HELP! OS disc is full allthough no data added!
The recovered data is written to my external drive (I can see folders named "recup_dir.15" and so on. It started there after pass2 as far as I know.
Two questions, 1. why is my internal disk full, allthough there are no new files 2. why can't I find recup_dir.1, recup_dir.2 and so on?
