I think it's a good idea to clone the disk to a new empty one using gnu ddrescue.
Once it's done, remove the original disk and try chkdsk on the clone.
If chkdsk still failed, use PhotoRec on the partition, choose [Whole] instead of [Free].

I believe the result of the second run was that it said No Partition found … even after doing a Deeper Search … all of this took about two days of running TestDisk … I don’t have any screenshots and can’t access logs at this point because I am now running on Mac ...
