Hmm strange - tried the chkdsk way

C:\Windows\system32>fsutil fsinfo drives

Drives: C:\ D:\ E:\

C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk e: /r
The type of the file system is RAW.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.



No luck.

I have checked/tried the recovery example on the wiki - but the "write error ...

Hi ,

I have been working with testdisk and my brothers external WD HDD. He has been using it for backup and needs the content but windows is unable to use the disk and keeps saying "You need to format disk..:". I have tried Mac and Linux as well.

So I have been able to copy pictures and movies ...
