Qnap Recover deleted/disappeared Files

#1 Post by PeterAH »

Hi,

Yesterday our NAS (qnap) has been "Cleaned". First an .vhd file from our Domain server got deleted (while the server was running). And after that our main share was cleaned for 99%.The Network Bin is empty so i cannot recover from here.

Is there a way to recover the files with Photorec or Testdisk?
Should i run this from my laptop or directly from CLI on Qnap?
Or is there a better way of recover these files?

With kind regards,
Peter v/d Kleij

PhotoRec can be run directly on the qnap in CLI but you need to mount a share on another storage to store the recovered files. vhd files are often fragmented, so even if photorec recovers one, it probably will not be usable.
