Can I install testdisk on Android device

#1 Post by Stockdill263 »

Is it possible to install "testdisk" ( https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk ) on an Android device? ( Or is there any similar software that I can run on my Android device and/or Android terminal ).

The purpose of using "testdisk", is to see if a file had been permanently deleted form the device.

If you want to recover data from the SD card, turn off your phone and put the memory card in an USB card reader, start PhotoRec, select the memory card, Search...

If your Android is rooted, it's possible to create a disk image using dd and ssh (or netcat/nc).
Here is a link for the old Iphones, it's the same with Android: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Recover ... _an_iPhone
Once it's done, select the disk image and choose to open it with photorec.

If disk encryption is used, PhotoRec may be unable to recover your data.
