I've searched through the forums and it seems common for large volumes to take days to analyse. I expanded a partition on Wednesday night, only to have it fail to Unallocated space. I need the data back asap and my backups would take days to restore. The TestDisk scan looks like it will take days, as well. There is at least 15 terabytes of data on this NTFS partition.TestDisk scanned up to 84% quickly, but now it's chugging along very slowly, and will complete in about 7 days by my calculation.
EaseUS Partition Master looks like it may recover this quickly and easily, but I'll obviously have to pay for it. $40 seems worth it.
Suggestions on how to move forward?
My other question is if I need an additional 20TB to restore the data, or if it will just restore in-place on the existing partition?
Thanks!
Faster way to recover 20TB?

Re: Faster way to recover 20TB?
Are you using some array structure like JBOD? A decreasing linear speed is normal but not "very slowly" (missing speed indication of you).Zepfanman wrote: 31 Jan 2021, 16:23 I've searched through the forums and it seems common for large volumes to take days to analyse. I can't close the gap between "asap", "USD 40" in question and not having additional storage media ready.

If Testdisk finds the partition and its content appears accessible there is no need for another 20 TB unless you want to use Testdisk to copy the drive's content. If you fail, get yourself another 20TB for Photorec.

Thank you for your reply! This is actually an iSCSI LUN on a RAID6. Sorry, not sure what you mean by close the gap. Not having had this happen before, I'm just trying to find the most efficient & proper method (without messing something up) to recover the data.recuperation wrote: 31 Jan 2021, 17:51 Are you using some array structure like JBOD?
