I’ve recovered several videos from an accidentally formatted SD card. The files are MPEG-4 (AAC, H.264) and were taken with a DJI Osmo Pocket 2 and the card is formatted with exFAT/ The card was not used after being formatted, so I assume most files are intact and should be recoverable. However, I cannot open any of the 300 or so files after recovery with both PhotoRec or Disk Drill.
QuickTime gives this error: The document “f1910272_ftyp.mov” could not be opened. The file isn’t compatible with QuickTime Player.
VLC doesn’t read the file and indicates a duration of 00:00:00
I noticed that the recovered file shows have no codec information. My hypothesis is that some metadata has been stripped from the files, making it impossible for players to determine which codec to use. Could this be the case, and if so, are there ways to recover this information?
Thank you
