Hope I am posting this on the correct forum. I have Dell XPS desktop with two disk drives. SSD 1 TB and Hard Disk 2 TB. I decided to have a clean install of windows 11. During the set up, it recognized both the drives. I selected SSD drive (drive C) for OS installation and partitioned drive accordingly. Accidentally, I also reset partition on the 2TB drive (drive G). The drive G had only one partition prior to the install. I selected the whole drive as one partition again during the installation. I had approx 160MB of data on the 2TB drive.I did not back it up before this process thinking I won't be doing anything with that drive. After the install, I noticed that I had made an error and I couldn't see any files/folders on that drive. I renamed it as drive G after Windows 11 installation. I have been trying to recover those files. TestDisk did the analysis. Windows disk management (properties for drive G) shows used space 162MB and free space 1.81TB. TestDisk analysis shows current partition structure as 1 P MS Reserved 2048 264191 262144 (Microsoft Reserved Partition) and 2 P MS Data264192 3907028991 3906764800 (Basic data partition).
Disk Physical Drive 2000 GB / 1863 Gib. I could not select a partition for recovery. Any suggestions? The lost files are not critical. However, I thought of exploring file recovery options since that drive (drive G) is not in use and nothing has been over written on that drive. Thanks.

Re: Partition recovery on Windows 11 pro computer
You can try TestDisk, select the 2 TB PhysicalDrive, Analyse, Quick Search and Deeper Search. If you are lucky, you will see your old partition. If it's the case, use the arrow keys to switch this partition to P(rimary). On next screen, choose Write, confirm, and Quit.
If it doesn't work, try PhotoRec. If it will not recover the original filenames but it should recover the files that haven't been overwritten.
Good luck
