I have a Seagate 8TB external HD that I have been using to keep backups of two laptops. HD came with TOOLKIT software.
Recently one of the laptops became corrupted updating from WIN 10 to WIN 11.
I was able to make a recovery USB using MEDIA CREATION TOOL on the second laptop.
I must have had the backup hd attached while doing so and now the backup hd only shows a 32gb Named "recovery"
I tried running EASEUS on the HD and can see that my files (or most of them hopefully) are still there somewhere.
Diak MAnagement shows the 32GB partition and two other ones saying "UNALLOCATED"
I started TESTDISK yesterday as ADMINISTRATOR. Ran the ANALYSE option.
THis morning it is stating:
"Analyse cylinder 555654/972800: 05%"
Seems as though it is taking too long, Is this to be expected?
THanks for any help!

I can't tell because your description does not allow to do any calculation.
I am really asking myself if I expect too much from people asking questions on this forum.

Re: Seagate 8tb External drive now showing only 32GB partition
To answer the question we need a reference speed for sustained operation and the observed speed.
"Include as many details as you can"
"Seagate 8 TB" is not specific! The name of the specific model is required. HDD read speed vary as they come with differing rotational speeds.
5%* 8TB = 400 GB
In your case the value is 400 GB / ( [today] - [yesterday] ).
Unfortunately I can't calculate [today] - [yesterday], as your terms are not quantitative.

Read Speed is [Bytes read]/[Elapsed time].
