No questions, no complaints, no bitching or moaning about how "This doesn't work!" or anything, just a heartfelt thanks to Mr Grenier and CGSecurity!
The scenario: About seven or eight years ago I'd bought a 4TB Seagate Expansion Drive. In 2020 I accidentally bent the cable leading to it and destroyed the little connector in the enclosure. I carefully made a clone of the disk and put it into a drawer. Then I tried a couple of data recovery tools but none of them worked because of the way the ASM1053 controller board did the geometry translation. Finally I gave up, but the original drive was still there stored away.
I had nothing to lose by trying so I used TestDisk to change the geometry, and hey, presto! I am recovering all my stuff, things that I'd accumulated over many years.
So once more, thanks!
