Im new to TestDisk and found a bit difficult to know what to do to get my partition back. I'll try to give all informations I have to help you give me advices.
Im on a Macbook M1, updated to last system and softwares. I was using a Toshiba 2To hard drive, that I thought was SSD but its HDD formatted in ExFat, Ntfs. It's been always a bit long to mount, and not very speedy to write but working ok, before starting to respond a bit weird, and no more.
Testdisk came out to be the software i should try to get my hard drive back.
I did some tries, not knowing exactly how to use, but of course after reading the tutorials in here.
At some point I thought I had it ok, and did write. since then its seems i have more troubles and dont know how to get back.
In the list of disk selection I always see at least two times my drive. It seems the second one will find quite quickly the partition, while the other one, will search for hours until I stop... Also if it find it quickly it finds out the Intel format and leads after a quick search to a partition in green that finds all my files.
But It was a bit weird about the size, as if there was some missing part, but it was just one partition for files, without any system on it. Ive been trying to to search longer, and deeper, but it never brought anything else than get stuck at some point... So i once tried to write what was looking good.
But it was not good. So i start to try to backup some files from it. Looking fine. some folder with 5.000+ files saved fine, with no errors, but then in the saved folder there are many files missing, and the ones present, looking with the right size, cant be used, open, looking corrupts and some other empty.
Actually I know nothing about cylinders, sector size etc, but Mt 2TO drive just shows about 1.800go and I have no idea how to get the missing part. When it eventually mount in the finder, it’s just about 700go. I find a lots of results online with the same numbers than my drive, so I guess it is something common..
I can only put all the screenshots to show you what is going on. Thanks in advance for any help.
