I have a relatively new 64GB Chinese micro SD card and tried to low level format it in Windows. Something went wrong during the process and it now shows as 121MB and I'm unable to access it or format it again. I've tried on my Mac as well and when trying to format it, it is stuck on "Waiting for partition to activate".
When I run TestDisk it says Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55 and doesn't find anything.
I'm not interested in the data on the disk, since I was trying to format it anyway. I just want the disk to return to normal. I believe it was exFAT before.
How can I fix it?

This is the TestDisk support forum. For general hardware repairs you have to find another forum.

Alright. And what would be the right forum, or can a mod move my topic to the right forum?

Everything in
forum.cgsecurity.org
is about the TestDisk software package. This package has been programmed for the purpose of data recovery.
For hardware repairs you have to find yourself a different forum.
A different forum does not mean a different subforum in forum.cgsecurity.org but rather a different domain like "flashstoragerepairs.com" (fantasy name I just invented).
In Western Europe nobody has flash storage repaired. Labour costs are a multiple of hardware costs.
If for whatever reason I will not judge about you feel like you want to have your flash storage repaired - go for it.
Ask your storage seller or the manufacturer.
You are on your own now - I can't help you, sorry.

Alright. Well I must have misunderstood what TestDisk is for. I thought that it could somehow restore my partitions so that I can at least format the drive. I am not sure if the drive is physically broken or if there is just some partioning error.recuperation wrote: 10 May 2024, 20:15 Everything in

I am trying to repair it because it came with a product that I am sending back, so I'd like the sd card to be in good condition when I send it back.
