So I downloaded and opened photorec as the tutorial said, but my disk shown in it is much more smaller than it really is (256GB to 524MB), and what is

I do not know what to do.
Also I find there's no [Free] or [Whole] button after selecting [other] as the tutorial said.
Can anyone help me with this? I need to recover my files I delete yesterday.

The quote above is from the manual but it is located in the TestDisk section. It applies as well to Photorec.8.1.3 Disk selection
All hard drives should be detected and listed with the correct size by TestDisk.
• Use up/down arrow keys to select your hard drive with the lost partition/s.
• Press Enter to Proceed.
If TestDisk/PhotoRec does not recognize the size of the disk correctly both programs cannot work properly.
Were does the size information come from? Please post your TestDisk logfile.

The selection between "free" and "whole" requires that a healthy file system exists in the partition and that it is one of the list mentioned above.
It seems that this condition is not met - no wonder with regards to the disk size issue you have mentioned above.
Furthermore, you are talking about recovering deleted files. You did not mention which device you are talking about. Recovering from flash today is mostly impossible.
