Hi,
my iMac (white 20"), OS X 10.6.8 (I guess) did not start anymore from HD. A start from another CopyCloned ExtHD was possible, meanwhile even this takes hours...
But starting from an Ubuntu CD-ROM (by MacLife, 2009, for Intel-Macs with HFS+ disks) works out when pressing Command key upon start.
A few months ago, TechTool told me something about bad SMART and some bad sectors on the internal HD.
So I analyzed the HD with TestDisk (HD is seen by the Ubuntu, but not accessible).
I attach a protocol, as I do not know how to proceed further now.
Thanks for any advice (and: I am not a Pro and need simple explanations and no big terminal round-abouts; simple this yes, explanations great!)

Re: iMac HD corrupted
Meanwhile, I was able to detect the HD, even see the correct name in Partition2. In partition1 I found an EFI System (small). To create images was possible.
Than the question came: do you want to save partition file image.dd in /home/ubuntu ?
For the EFI system this works out, fast.
Fot the Mac HFS the superblock analysis is OK. Sectors identical.
Image creation: same directory pathes found, but 0% (no progress), so I cancel.
Is it than possible that I have a physical damage or is there a way to recover data?
