Need some help to recover lost partition.

#1 Post by moustaky »

Good evening.
I’m trying to save using TestDisk (16.4), my lost data from a damaged external HD.
But my knowledge is not enough for me to understand what am I actually doing, so I’m afraid to worse the situation.
Here are the steps I’ve done up to now, and the point in which I have stopped myself. Will anybody tell me whether I’m doing the right choices, and how I can go on?
I’m using windows7. The external disk is a Packard Bell Carbon.
Thanks in advance for any answer.
Greetings from Italy.

0) I created a new log file [Enter]
1) I selected the broken device [Proceed]
2) I selected [Intel] as partition table type
3) I chose the command [Analyse]
4) On the next page I selected [Quick Search]
5) At the end of the search it seemed I obtained nothing [enter]
6) Therefore on the next page I selected [Deeper Search] to look for more partitions
7) Even the deeper search hasn't found anything, so I chose to load backup [L]
8) I selected the first backup and then [Load]
9) Now I'm asked to select a partition. But here I stop because I don't know how to go on.
Which disk does it refer to? Which one do I need to select?
Have I done all right so far? And what shall I do now?

I loaded all the print screens here:

Thanks again
