HELP!. Check fat: cant read fat boot sector

#1 Post by TonyStress360 »

Hello!.

I Have a WD Passport 0748 1TB that has failed. the drive shows in My computer.
but when i click on it i get the following message. E:\ is not accessible. the parameter is incorrect.

i use recovery software programs, Diskinternals; Stellar Pheonix.etc .i can recover my files from those programs
but i dont have a extra hard drive to backup my files. i believe its a easy fix since my files are
showing up on data recovery programs. im new to testdisk and i dont wanna make any mistakes.ive read the testdisk
step by step guide. but im getting that i have no clue about

so i tried testdisk to fix my hard drive. because i believe the drive failed due to something to with the boot sector.
i have screenshots the whole recovery process i did. so it can be easier you guys to help me out

okay so i click intel. then analyse. (Window 1 / 2)
i get the no partition is bootable (screenshot below)
WINDOW 3
Image
so i enter quick search (screenshot below).
WINDOW 4
Image

i've enter P for primary and enter continue which brings me to the following window.
WINDOW 5
Image

i do a deeper search and while its searching the drive. i get this error while scaning
i see a D next to FAT16. correct if im wrong but dont that mean its DELETED?? is that the problem. SCREENSHOT BELOW
WINDOW 6
Image

So now the my deeper search scan is now done (screenshot below)
WINDOW 7
Image

so i enter continue and it takes me back to WINDOW 4. so i enter P again for primary

i enter continue and theres a option to WRITE. so i write. it tells me to restart PC.
i restart it and the Hard drive still
doesnt work. im guessing from the CHECK FAT: cant read boot sector error.
theres a problem with boot sector
so i go the advance section. enter boot and i get the screenshot below...

ADVANCE 1

does any one know what the problem can be.
i would realy appreciate the help.
Also in the dump section i see a error that says ntldr is missing

As your partition isn't lost, no need to use Analyse/Quick Search/...
Run "cmd" (right-click Run as Administrator"), "chkdsk /f d:" (replace d: by the correct drive letter).
What is the result ?

One more thing. Before my hard drive failed. My drive health status was caution on crystaldisk. Current pending sector count. Not good. Now its still the same after i just recover it.

How do i go about getting the health Status back to good ?

You need to replace your HD, otherwise you may loose your data again.
