500gb GPT Windows 8 Partion lost

#1 Post by fandaz » 06 Jan 2014, 22:05

Hi All,

Would be grateful if any could help me sort out my drive.
Windows 8 was hanging/slow/faulty, removed to backup data on external USB caddie/Windows 7 laptop, Disk Management would not recognise file system and asked if the drive was MBR or GPT.
I chose MBR but the partiton was empty.
Have tried using Partition Recovery software but nothing found as yet.
Test disk on windows 8 machine is scanning at moment but lots of warnings:-

Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive1 - 500 GB / 465 GiB - CHS 7600 255 63

Am I doing this in the correct manner?
