SAGEM DTR67250

#1 Post by daystrom »

I think the MBR may be faulty (no partition data at all).
TestDisk and PhotoRec doesnt seem to detect anything. I've noticed that the menu option has HUMAX but no other PVR unfortunately. Is cgsecurity going to support other PVRs?

So far, EaseUS Partition Recovery, gave the best results. It recovered some files but thinks its a FAT32 system and saved them as SWF files. When you view the files via VLC, it does play as a movie. However theres a reoccurring glitch with a frequency of a couple of seconds and its only a partial file recovery.

Any idea how to go about the SAGEM DTR67250 hard drive? thanks.

yep its out of its box,
the Sagem pvr stopped working over a year ago (I've been using Humax instead. fantastic little box).
the DTR67250 frequently froze, and the only way to restart it was to unplug it. It sometimes froze half way through a recording.
I scanned it with photorec last night and managed to get something but it was similar to EaseUS Partition Recovery. They saved as mpg and when viewed with VLC, they were similar to EaseUS Partition Recovery.
I also tried turning off all file extensions, but leaving .ts selected. It found several thousand .ts files every one of which were 127kb in size.
I'm out of ideas :(

Would it be possible to upload a screenshot from TestDisk and Analyse to watch your current situation?
I'd like to see, why Testdisk didn't find something.

No probs. it'll take a while though. I had tried analysing with none partioned, Humax, PC, and one other. The none partioned option took about 10 hours.
Will upload images by the end of today or tomorrow. thanks.

None partitionned media are rare.
TestDisk will scan each sector and it consumes time.
Intel partition table scans cylinder.
1 cylinder with 255 heads (0-254) and 63 sectors per head are about 8 MB.
It's gonna speed up your scan drastically.
Reason why I required a screen, I'll check your geometry from your disk, to have a try why TestDisk didn't find something.
So it's only intended for diagnose purposes.

When I select Intel it presents me with the follow message, before I start searching for partitions.
Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55

The Intel scan result is as follows.
Intel scan result
Intel scan result
sagem3.jpg (20.8 KiB) Viewed 5994 times

The none scan result is as follows at 38% complete. At 100% there are a few more lines of HFS and VMFS.
None scan result
None scan result
sagem2.jpg (26.33 KiB) Viewed 5994 times
I hope that helps.

The MBR and boot sector have a signatur that they're valid.
If they're not valid, you'll receive this message.
If there is no partition nor boot sector like in your case, you'll get this message too.
It's a screen from Quick Search.
A Screen from Analyse would be appreciated too.
You can distinguish it, there is a note, "current partition structur" and would be an screen earlier.
But I assume, it would be empty?

The page with "current partition structure" is identical to the first image except for the title "current partition structure" and the "Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55" message, theres no other information.

I can upload the image but theres no extra info below the headings Partition, Start, End and Size. Sorry.
