I bought a new computer and installed Windows XP and Windows 7. During the install of XP it asked to place some boot files onto the hard drive in question. I thought they would be temporary but when I loaded Windows the hard drive was not showing as working.
I would like to recover the data if possible. I tried following the instructions in 2 previous threads but they didn't help. (screen pics inserted)
The boot sector is damaged.
Run TestDisk again, but follow these steps:
A. At the first window, select “No Log” and press the <Enter> key.
B. Select which drive to analyse, choose “Proceed” and <Enter>.
C. Select partition type – Intel if it’s a PC then <Enter>.
D. Choose Advanced > press <Enter>.
E. Choose Boot > press <Enter>.
F. Choose Repair FAT > press <Enter>.
I don't get that option when I choose Advanced
Invalid Drive

Re: Invalid Drive
If you change the type to 7 (NTFS), do you see your files ?
If it's the case, run TestDisk, Analyse, Quick Search, Write, confirm, Quit
