WD 3TB drive lost after passing 2.2TB

#1 Post by Aether »

Hi,

Bought a WD 3TB drive, formatted the drive using Windows 7 64-bit with GPT.
Drive showed up with 2.78TB of usable space and I commenced copying files to the HDD and all was working fine for 2-3 days. I connected the drive again via a HDD dock and continued to copy approx 300GB over the 2.2TB mark.
Left it for a day or two, returned and connected the drive to be used via the USB dock and a prompt appeared in windows saying that the drive is not formatted and to format it...I instantly stopped there...

Reading online, it seems that using the Dock may have caused the drive to loop and commence writing over itself for data past 2.2TB...I have used testdisk and received the below, is anyone able to shed some light on what can be done and if the data on the drive is still recoverable at all?
